Every year, The Gift comes to the stage. This year, The Gift was on November 16, 2019.
What is The Gift, might you be wondering? Glad you asked.
Praise in Motion, a non-profit Christian ministry, produces one of the best ballet performances you'll ever sit through in your life. Am I exaggerating? Absolutely not. In short, The Gift is about a young girl who attends a Christmas Lock-in at her church after her mother passes away. Despite her sorrows, her friends remind her of the gift of salvation we have in Christ, and the ballet follows Jesus' birth, ministry, death, and resurrection. It's beautiful, heart-moving, and a real tear-jerker. Every year my Dad assures me he's not crying while watching it, and every year, he cries during the show.
Nancy Marie Glasscock and Ashley Strange, two current Juniors at SGA, are dancers at the En Pointe School of Dance, and many students from En Pointe danced in this year's The Gift. Both of them are excellent dancers in the Praise in Motion program and love performing The Gift.
"I love talking to my family, friends, and strangers [after the show] to hear their perspectives and opinions about the show!" Ashley Strange said, commenting on her favorite part about the dance. "It's very rewarding to know that people continue to enjoy what we have to offer! We love to use our talents to bring Praise to our Lord!" Ashley continued. "It truly is an amazing way to see how God's great gift can be portrayed through movement!"
I encourage everyone to see it next year when The Gift comes to the stage in 2020! It's a fantastic representation of the greatest gift God has given us and is a life-changer! The ballet is spectacular as well, not going to lie.
