Salutations, I’m Sammi and I’m here to welcome you back to Scholars Guild from a nice long summer. (Over too soon, right?)
Through the several interviews I took last week, I discovered that a lot of you did some really extraordinary things with your summer. Some of you hit well-known cities like San Francisco, New Orleans, and DC; one of you even traveled overseas to Europe. A good number of you went to beaches (I’m sooo jealous) and one even chased their passion of horse showing to Indiana. A lot of you probably went to summer camps and one of my interviewees even went to a family camp, which sounded like a ton of fun.
Anyway, I was doing some additional research online, and I discovered that almost half of Americans (49%!!!) aren’t taking summer vacations. I regret to inform you I am among this 49% (lol). However, just because you don’t go on a summer vacation doesn’t mean you can’t do something with your summer.
For instance, I filled my summer with friends and adventures at Hard Labor Creek State Park and sometimes even just in the woods in my own backyard. There’s always an adventure somewhere just waiting for you! I encourage you strongly to take it. And while summer may be over, that doesn’t mean fun is. There are tons of adventures right outside your door (LITERALLY) waiting for you. You can always take a scenic bike ride or walk, or a hike in the woods, or if you really enjoy the outdoors (like me) Google a couple of state parks in your area and go explore those. These things are even more fun in late fall when the GA weather starts to cool down.
In the end, whether you went on a summer vacation with your family or just chilled with friends at home all summer, I hope you had a great summer and are prepared (or at least mostly prepared) for this next school year!
