When Your Birthday's On a Tuesday

When kids look at a calendar to find out which day of the week their next birthday will fall on, and it happens to be that one day that we go to school, groans of frustration can be the common reaction. But what if going to school on your birthday isn’t so bad after all? Before you call me crazy, just hear me out.
Brag About Your Birthday
By bragging, I don’t mean acting like you’re better than everyone because you’re officially a year older. Tie a balloon to your backpack, and/or bring some kind of shareable treat to lunch. (Ex: cupcakes, cookies)
Have a Friend Announce It During Lunch
As awkward as the entire lunch period singing “Happy Birthday” off-key can be, keep in mind that this can also be a very nice gesture from a best friend or sibling. Don’t hide your face in your lunchbox. Embrace the attention!
Take A Special Detour On The Way Home
Whether it’s a quick shopping spree, catching a movie, or hitting the drive-thru of your favorite fast food place, there are countless ways to be rewarded for getting through the school day on your special day. Some restaurants will give you a free dessert as well!
Keep The Alternative In Mind
Remember that most kids have to attend school five days a week, and therefore rarely get a birthday free of social studies and algebra. Be grateful for that Friday you turned twelve, and were able to take a day off from homework.
I’m turning sixteen on March 3rd, and I’m actually looking forward to the busy day! In reality, having your birthday on a Tuesday is a great opportunity to celebrate with an overwhelming amount of friends!
