Stranger Things!

We all saw the Stranger Things logo on our TVs and felt the beating of our hearts as the music played in the background for the last time on December 31st. It was a truly monumental series for our generation. I haven’t been watching it for many years like some superfans have, but I did binge-watch it all before the last episode came out. No matter if you liked how the show ended or not, I think most of us can agree it's still a great show! One element that makes it amazing is how the stylists styled the characters. Not only are their costumes amazing, but a lot have meaning to them.

Lucas’ style (Caleb McLaughlin)

In season four, Lucas plays basketball, and his number is eight. He actually chose this number because he loves the NBA player Kobe Bryant, and that was his number!

Then, when Lucas starts dating Max, his style changes, and one of Lucas's outfits even includes a Karate Kid shirt, which has the movie's title written in Japanese, a reference to Max's celebrity infatuation with Ralph Macchio. "Lucas would probably wear that in front of her to be like, 'look, I can be like him, too,'" said costume designer Parris.

Eleven’s style (Millie Bobby Brown)

Eleven’s style is more of a darker color palette. She shops with Max in season three to get some trendy clothes, but when Eleven moves with Will and his family in season four, she still has the clothes but doesn’t know how to style them. Once, she styled a dress with what looks like Will’s old shirt.

Argyle’s style (Eduardo Franco)

Argyle has a very laid-back personality and has kind of boho, California-style clothing. And influences his friend, Jonathan Byers, in his clothing choices. When they become friends Jonathan wears a more colorful palette.

Erika (Priah Ferguson)

One of Erika’s sweaters she wears in season 5, was very in at the time; it was a play off of a sweater Princess Diane had worn!

Holly’s style (Nell Fisher)

Holly in Season 5 is now becoming a teen, and we see her a lot in this season! Holly's colorful outfit in Season 5 has custom fabric and true vintage buttons, along with a custom bracelet from Etsy (the vendor has no idea it was used for Stranger Things)! Another interesting thing she wears is her "Holly The Heroic" outfit, which includes a Boy Scouts neckerchief, and later we see young Henry (Vecna) wearing that exact one.

Every one of the characters’ styles has changed so much as the seasons progressed and the characters grew up. Max even wore patches on her pants when she was in her 50s outfit from cut-up shirts from young Henry outfits!

In Stranger Things, the outfits the characters wear mean so much, and so much work has been put into every one. And if you haven't watched Stranger Things, I recommend you watch it - just make sure to always ask your parents before watching.
