Spring Treats

Writer: Avery WeaverAvery Weaver

As the temperatures start to rise, it means spring is right around the corner. There are many ways to get into the Springtime feels, and whenever the sun shines a little brighter, I love making these treats!

  1. This first one is one you can also use all year long! It's a super easy, no-baking required, edible cookie dough! These are much safer to eat, since eating raw eggs and flour isn't ideal. You will need flour, sugar, brown sugar, butter, vanilla extract, milk, salt, and mix-ins of your choice! First, you will need to heat treat the flour by adding it into a big bowl and microwaving it in 30-second intervals. Now that your flower is “cooked” and stirred, you can add the sugar and brown sugar into a mixer and mix until everything is combined. Once you finish mixing, you can also add the vanilla and milk. Then add salt and flour. After adding the mix-ins of your choice (chocolate chips, sprinkles, etc.), you will have edible cookie dough to share with friends and family, or yourself. :)

  1. The next snack is on the healthier snacking side, which is just as delicious! It's an Easter-inspired fruit salad. For this snack, you will need spring cookie cutters (bunnies, carrots, egg-shaped cutters) and fruit of your choice. Start off by cutting your fruit and then using those cookie cutters to make cute Easter shapes! This is great for an Easter brunch!

  1. Continuing on with the theme of Easter treats, here's one to use with leftover Peeps! All you need is refrigerated cookie dough, and as many peeps as you want/have. Start by following the cooking directions on the cookie dough, then separate the cookies into 6 sections. Then place a Peep in between two of the pieces and make sure the peep is covered. Once they are cooled from baking, you have an elevated Peep snack!

  1. This last recipe is more for looks but equally as yummy! It's vegetable patch hummus cups. You can use small potting cups for flowers if you have some on hand (WASH BEFORE USING THEM!!!!!), but if not you can always use plastic cups or other bowls. You start by adding your choice of hummus into the cups filling them all the way to the rim of the cups. Next, add carrots and other veggies of your choice to give it that vegetable patch feel. Now you have a simple, healthy, and very cute snack!

Overall, these recipes are fairly easy, and very delicious to start this season! Hope you enjoy it!
