The Scholars Guild Academy middle school volleyball team had an AMAZING 2025 season! They had a record of 8 wins and 4 losses overall, won their region with a 5-1 record in region play, and participated in the final four state competition. The team was led by their fearless coaches, Margaret Woosnam and Natalie Minor.
The team had lots of great memories; they especially highlighted a few events, and being together as a team. Here are their favorite moments from the season:
"Going to the Gatlinburg tournament"- Willow Malcom
"Going to a tournament in Gatlinburg and State playoffs!"-Oakley Tate
"When we went to Gatlinburg and all hung out at the hotel waterpark together"-
Arabella Rush
"Winning region champs and celebrating with the team."-Charlee Crawford
As we turn to the team's achievements, everyone agrees that winning their region and advancing to the final four was a huge accomplishment. Still, an additional achievement was brought up by Olivia Ward, who said, “actually being a team and communicating” was a highlight of her season.
Successful communication and acting like a team are critical steps to success, and we know MS volleyball had a lot of that. The importance of a good team was exceptionally well stated by Ella Garner, who said, "Building skill is huge, but also building good relationships is so much more important . . . I'm so grateful for this amazing group of girls." This is an excellent testament to the importance of teamwork.
On the note of the importance of teamwork, here is some of what the girls love about volleyball:
"The people. I've been doing Volleyball with most of these people for three years, and it brought all of us closer together. Even the new people on our team this year quickly became one of us!" - Brooke Patterson
"The coaches and the teammates. It is almost therapeutic to me." - Aubrey Martin
The theme of the importance of teamwork continues! The girls came up with some mottos for the season. Here they are:
"Pressure is a privilege." - Arabella Rush.
Oakley Tate thought a quote from Forrest Frank summed up the season well: "Up!"
"NOBODY'S PERFECT BUT JESUS." - Ella Garner
Arabella's quote shows the importance of how well the team did, how they earned the high-stakes situation, and the honor that came with it. Oakley's shows the team's attitude and success, and Ella's shows how the team remained grounded in their faith.
On the note of faith, Brooke Patterson brought up another way the girls kept the Bible active during the season, mentioning that they would go over one of the fruits of the spirit after each practice.
Willow Malcom and Aubrey Martin both had messages they wanted to share:
Aubrey: "It was just a really good season, like being region champs, going to the final four, and state, even though state is not how we wanted it to turn out, it still was a good game and season overall."
Willow: "We had a very successful season, and I hope that some of the girls who are going to be on the middle school SGA team next year will have a very successful season too!"
Both of these notes of encouragement are wonderful!
Finally, to sum up the season, Abby Sikoryak had a motto that the team played by: "If you want a soft serve, go get ice cream!"
Congratulations to the entire team on an INCREDIBLE season! We are all looking forward to next year!
