Senior Farewell

I was diagnosed with Autism when I was little. Because of this, I grew up in a public school system during my elementary years, as well as sixth and seventh grade. This was primarily because of their special education and social skills programs. Although I knew some good people during these times, I was also sometimes bullied and manipulated by other students and teachers during these years. That might be an exaggeration, but that’s what it felt like at the time.
When I first joined SGA and started eighth grade, I was more hesitant to talk to new people because I was worried about what people would think of me. I sat alone all the time during lunch, and I was even somewhat rude during eighth grade. It wasn’t until I first joined Journalism during ninth grade that I realized something: the majority of my peers were forgiving, and could accept me for who I am.
Over my high school years, I grew as a person, and my social skills improved as well. Although I lost my drive for creating articles for the Journalism club, I am still grateful for the new friendships I have formed, both inside and outside the Journalism club.
As you get older, you start to notice that time goes by faster than you think, and my high school years are a good personal example of this. As the days go by, I hope I continue to grow as a person throughout college and beyond.
