As baseball season approaches, all of Braves Nation is on the edge of their seats, chomping at the bit to see how this season will shape up. After patiently waiting during the off-season, fans are eager to get back in the swing of things and reunite with their favorite players, and what better way to welcome them back then by diving into some of the guys’ playing styles. So let's do just that by comparing these players to animals.
Ronald Acuña, Jr.: Cheetah
Starting out with the MVP himself: he’s fast, he’s smart, he’s skilled, Ronald Acuña, Jr. is the cheetah. As one of the fastest players in the league, there's no better choice for Acuña than the fastest animal in the world.
Max Fried: Fox
Foxes are quick and ambitious. They tend to keep to themselves, but their agility and intelligence are impressive, much like Max Fried.
Austin Riley: Lion
Lions are a symbol of strength, reliability, and confidence, and to me, Riley exemplifies all of these qualities pretty well. With every game, Riley steps onto the field with an air of cool confidence, setting an unspoken example for his other teammates. He may not be the most flashy player on the team, but when he’s on his game, you’ll see those moments where he just absolutely roars.
Spencer Strider: Wolf
Serious and focused like a wolf, Spencer Strider is all business when he steps on that pitcher’s mound. He leaves no room for error and his commitment to the game shows in the way that he pitches.
Marcell Ozuna: Grizzly bear
Nicknamed “The Bear,” Ozuna is strong and fierce but with a soft side that comes out when interacting with his teammates. He often has a smile on his face but knows how to get down to business.
Ozzie Albies: Laughing Kookaburra
As the funniest guy on the team, what better animal for Albies than the bird who spends its life laughing. Kookaburras may look unassuming, but they’re super intelligent, using their laugh as a way to assert their dominance. Albies is similar in the way that his positive attitude and general stature can be underestimated, when really he’s one of the most skilled players on the team.
Orlando Arcia: Dolphin
Other than the fact that his name is Orlando, Arcia is slick, agile, and skilled, much like the dolphin.
Travis D’Arnaud: Koala
As a catcher, you have to learn to be patient and focused, which are essential qualities of a koala. D’Arnaud knows what he has to do and can execute his job with a sense of calmness.
Matt Olson: Goat
Greatest of all time. Enough said.
