How to Enjoy a Snow Day

As most of you have probably experienced, two notable snowfalls have occurred during the past month. Now, I LOVE snow, but I am aware that not everyone does (for whatever reason…). If you are one of those people who prefers the warmer weather, keep reading. I can assure you that there are so many ways to enjoy a winter wonderland!
Building a Snowman
The average depth of snow between both days was around five inches -- or so it was for me, anyway. Typically, in Georgia, it’s more often about one or two inches, and you can’t form a decent snowball without revealing the mud underneath. But, if we get another snow day in which the white on the ground, once again, measures four or five inches, make sure to take advantage of it all and build yourself a snowman - a well-known winter activity that we’ve finally had the chance to participate in.
Snowball Fights
Everyone loves an excuse to target their siblings with throwable objects, right? Well, thanks to snow, you may just as well have one in the near future. Snowball fights can range from harmless to pro-level intense, so next snow day, gather up your friends, family, neighbors, etc., build teams, and pull your pitching arm out of hibernation!
Sledding (And Other Similar Variations)
Do you have a hill near your house? Perhaps your entire backyard is a hill! If either of these is the case for you, I strongly suggest you try sledding. Don’t have a sled? Easy! Grab an overturned exercise stepper (my recommendation, though not everybody has access to one), a tote top, a cookie sheet, or a cardboard box, for instance, and see what works best for you. One other substitute is a pool tube, which leads me to address a variation of sledding. Snow tubing is an activity very similar to sledding, yet categorized differently. Skiing and snowboarding are a little more complicated, but still a recognizable advantage to the trending weather.
Keeping Warm
If warmer weather truly is your unbreakable passion, then I’m here to tell you that there are still plenty of ways to keep cozy in the midst of twenty-or-so-degree days. A fire in the hearth is a classic, as well as lit candles giving off their relaxing scents. Sit on your couch, pull up a blanket, and binge on your favorite TV show or a book. Or, if you feel like being productive and/or you’re hungry, make some soup of your choice. Though my opinion is that you’re missing out on some real wintry fun, if staying indoors is what makes you happy, then have at it.
These are just a few of the reasons why snow days can be so much fun! I hope I gave you some helpful tips on how to make them more enjoyable. And, if you just feel hopeless and miserable the second any flurries begin falling from the sky, then I guess there’s no helping you. Enjoy it while it lasts, people, because, at the end of the day, we all still live in Georgia.
Here’s to hoping for Snow Day #3! Cheers!
