By Josie Woosnam and Margo Lawson
Every year, the journalism and yearbook teams meet in rooms right next to each other, both with the goal of creating something amazing to share with the SGA community. Now, the two worlds collide as journalism members Josie Woosnam and Margo Lawson interview yearbook members Ellie Woosnam, Joshua Strange, Story Drake, and leader Mrs. Heather Strange. So if you want to discover some top-secret sneak peeks of the 2023-2024 yearbook, or just learn some more about the awesome members of the yearbook staff, read on!
What’s your favorite thing about being in the yearbook club?
Story Drake says her favorite part of the yearbook club is being able to “work together to create something bigger than herself” and also expresses that “being able to talk and share ideas” has been a massive part of her enjoyment this year on the yearbook staff
According to Mrs. Heather Strange “Working with the students and teaching something they can take with them” as well as “seeing it all come together” have both been the most enjoyable parts of advising the yearbook team.
What pages are you doing for the yearbook?
In case anyone is curious about who is sorting through all your pictures, here is who you should bribe for extra pictures on your favorite pages!
Ellie Woosnam is working on staff appreciation, volleyball, and Embrace. Joshua Strange is focusing his attention on freshmen, staff, and the title page, and Story Drake is working hard on spring formal, pets, juniors, and (maybe) concerts.
What’s one word you would use to describe the yearbook this year?
Decide for yourself what the theme for the yearbook could be based on these hints…
Ellie: ‘Creative’
Joshua Strange: ‘Quiet’
Story Drake: ‘Different’
Mrs. Heather Strange: ‘Dynamic’
Why did you decide to join the yearbook club?
Students have a multitude of reasons they might join the yearbook club, some of which may include the following:
“To be a part of the people capturing memories this year.” - Ellie Woosnam
“Because my mom is the teacher.” - Joshua Strange
“I didn’t have anything else to do on Thursdays.” - Story Drake
Now for the most important question! If you could take one person to the Hunger Games with you from SGA who would it be?
Ellie Woosnam says, “Sydney Minor.” She chose her because she “has great survival instincts and probably wouldn’t get us killed.”
Joshua Strange chooses “either Alton because he could find food, or Ty Rooks, because he's smart.”
Story Drake goes for “Sage because she is tough.”
Mrs. Heather Strange says “Teffany Whitley” and wants everyone to know that “we would not eat the berries.”
What’s your favorite seasonal drink?
Ellie: Peppermint mocha latte
Joshua Strange: Peach frosty at Chick-Fil-A
Story Drake: Anything peppermint
Mrs. Heather Strange: Iced chai latte with almond milk and cold foam
