I’m not sure about all of you, but when I’m bored, I tend to want to try something new or find a new hobby. While I may be the only one who does this, sometimes it’s just fun to experiment with something new and easy! If you ever find yourself wanting to be creative and need some ideas, this article is perfect for you!
1. Origami:
While I’ve never actually learned origami, it is something I have always wanted to learn, and I think it would be fun! In case you wanted a few random facts about origami:
it originated in Japan.
the word origami is derived from two words: ori (meaning folded) and kami (meaning paper).
Here are a few links to some videos that will help you learn this fun activity:
2. Making Duct Tape Pens:
Growing up, my older cousin was obsessed with making cute duct tape pens and had dozens of fun pens to draw with or use for decorative purposes. You may find this childish, or maybe you, like my cousins, made these all of the time! Regardless, this can be a fun way to pass the time.

3. Tote bags:
If you are looking for ideas that you can actually use, I suggest making your very own personal tote bag! This is something you could use often, and you can even do it with a group of friends. All you need is a cheap tote bag, some paint and paintbrushes, and maybe a pencil to sketch out your fun idea! While there aren’t many videos on how to do this, you can search for some inspiration by just typing “personal painted tote bag” into Google or Safari and going to the ‘images’ section. There should be some cute bags that you can use to inspire you as you make your own bag. These can also be fun gifts for someone. By painting things they love onto the bag, you can give them a meaningful gift that they can use!
4. Painting Mugs:
Painting mugs is similar to the tote bag idea. You can paint whatever design you want on a cheap, white mug. This is, once again, something fun that you can do with your friends, or just something you can do by yourself. You can even use your new mug for tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, which is obviously a necessity in the cold wintertime. All you need for this fun activity is a white mug, acrylic paint, and paintbrushes.
WARNING: In order for your paint to stay on your mug, you must put it into the oven. Set the oven to 350 degrees and set a timer for 30 minutes. Once your mug is done, pull it out and let it cool. DO NOT USE FOR 72 HOURS. Enjoy your new mug!
5. Punch Embroidery:
My sister has recently become OBSESSED with punch embroidery. You can order kits for this from Amazon, and it is really enjoyable and easy to do. If you do decide to do this, I would love to see your beautiful work. You should consider adding this fun piece of work to the creativity contest in March…double win! You get a fun new hobby and could even win a prize from the creativity contest.
