Zenith

By Margo Lawson

Up where the sun resides

Can I be up there also?

If I use my legs and jump up high

Or raise my arms up far

If I promise to be careful, I swear that I won’t fall!

If I fly to the moon

And jump from star to star

Can I land on its shiny surface

With no help at all

I can’t wait to peek across the edge

And see earth down below

All tiny dots and little spots

While I’m up here at the top

Finally, I'm the tallest, the strongest, the farthest

I've reached the highest, and I am the mightiest

Now with all this space between us

It seems I’ve reached my zenith
