The other day, I was on a walk with my family on the Greenway Trail in Lilburn. We happened upon this painting, and I was confused as to why there were two holes in it, but after further investigation, I noticed that it said something about a button project. I later looked this up and found out that the county of Gwinnett was in the process of placing 200 button sculptures around Gwinnett as a public art project. Now you might be thinking why buttons and why 200 of them?! Well, it turns out that Gwinnett County was actually founded by a man named Button Gwinnett over 200 years ago. This project started in 2018, which was the 200th anniversary of the second largest county in GA by population, Gwinnett County! Now that’s enough history for right now; take a look at some of these beautiful paintings placed around Gwinnett!
