When someone says Easter, what comes to mind? Do you think of the Easter Bunny, or does the annual Easter egg hunt in your hometown come to mind? Do you think about all the candy you'll be getting? How about cards and little wicker baskets filled to the brim with plastic eggs in every color imaginable? While all of these things can be enjoyable and entertaining, our primary focus this Easter should be the resurrection of Christ Jesus. This Easter, I encourage you to take a step back and remember the reason we celebrate this holiday in the first place. Three days after dying a terrible death on the cross, Jesus rose so that everyone on earth may have everlasting life with the Father in Heaven! Easter is all about celebrating God's eternal love and sacrifice for us as sinners. He is worthy of all praise. Now that---that is something to celebrate.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
-1 Peter 1:3
