What are good ways to stay cozy this holiday season?
This holiday season, there are a lot of fun things to do! Here are some examples.
Make your clothing comfortable and useful. Layers can be very helpful to keep you warm, and also can look great! One example is a sweater or cardigan over a shirt, or a hoodie over a long sleeve t-shirt. Make sure what you wear is comfortable, modest, and able to keep you warm!
Spend time with your loved ones. There are a lot of fun activities that you can do in the transitional season between fall and winter. You can go up to the mountains for a nice view; go to a cute coffee shop to do your schoolwork; check out places like Washington Farms. There are so many options to enjoy yourself and see God’s Creation!
Find some fun seasonal recipes and snacks. This doesn’t have to be going to Starbucks for a latte every time you want something different. The Internet has a lot of different resources to find some awesome recipes for things like pumpkin bread, gingerbread cookies, and tons more! Use your resources and have fun making both memories and yummy snacks!
What are some ways that I can get involved at SGA?
It is very difficult for a person to feel disconnected from school and the people who go to school with you. In highschool, it’s very easy to feel like you don’t belong and you don’t know how to change that. The good thing is, you’re not the only one struggling with this! Many people have struggled to make friends and get involved with your school. Here are some helpful ways to get connected here at SGA.
Go to SGA basketball and softball games! A lot of the school goes to the games and they’re usually a lot of fun and exciting to watch! This is an enjoyable way to get involved with the people who you see every week. You can bond over your love of the game and meet new people, or just support your school’s team!
Go to SGA’s planned events. SGA has lots of planned events that can help you meet new people in your grade! Each grade has a Community Coordinator who plans fun events for you and your grade. These are amazing opportunities to get closer to the people in your grade and have a fun time!
Participate in SGA’s Theme Days! This is such a fun idea that SGA does often! One of our most recent ones was to wear your favorite jersey! This is an enjoyable way to dress up and possibly meet people who like the same things as you, such as a sport’s team. Participating in these events will help you feel more included in your school and are always fun!
This season's changes have been pretty rough. Any ideas on what to do to help?
Know you aren’t alone! The time change snuck up on us all and can leave any one of us feeling out of sorts. In high school especially it feels as though you just nailed down your routine and now there’s an element that changes everything.
Talk about it with your family and friends. Once again, you definitely aren’t the only one feeling the effects of these long days! Sometimes, having someone to relate to can feel like the best thing!
Do something you enjoy. Because of school and all the other responsibilities we have, it can often feel like there isn’t enough time in the day to do everything. Especially during those times in the evening when the sun sets and you feel like there’s so much time left in the day and nothing to do, set aside time to do something you really enjoy! Be intentional to set time aside to do something you normally don’t feel like you have time to do and it can make a world of difference!
Don’t have anything in mind to do that you enjoy? Then find something that can fill your time and still let you have fun in the process. Work on your photography skills, start a new book you’ve been wanting to read, revisit an old childhood activity you used to enjoy, or even pick up a new hobby! If you have no clue where to start you can look up some easy ideas online to see what catches your interest that you can do easily and safely from home.
