Autumnal Reflections

Change is the emergence of a new chapter in our lives. It is a disturbance to most, an irregularity – an unwelcome surprise. It is anything but an opportunity – at least, this is how we interpret it. With the transition into a new school year, many of us will be experiencing these uncomfortable shifts, whether it be your final stretch of high school, or the start of your freshman year.

Change may be daunting in this sense, but it is beautiful. As summer shifts to autumn, nature undergoes a change far greater than any other. The suffocating humidity of the summer air settles into a crisp breeze. Trees dawn their autumnal coats, all-the-while preparing to lose them. The icy chill of winter that follows is embraced by the warmth of spring. Just as Mother Nature welcomes with gentle acceptance this continuous cycle of growth and losses, we may learn to flourish through the difficulties and changes faced in our lives.
