Refresh: Second Chances

Staring at a blank computer screen Move your mouse, upper left, refresh Staring at you life not knowing what it means You need to move your feet, or you’ll be left, refresh The world keeps moving, even if you don’t Second chances are shooting stars You blink and they’re gone Then you’re the one picking up the pieces, restart The computer blinks once, blinks twice, goes dark Pick up all the broken pieces then Piece together what you can to restart Then begin again But what happens when you don’t get a second chance The world keeps spinning around and will never stop There’s no time to pause without throwing off the dance If you fall down it’s so rare to climb back to the top. So what can you do? How do you live in a world of computers Getting more second chances than you It can restart But according to the world Once you’ve fallen you have fallen too far Blink once, blink twice, now how do you restart? How do you stand back up once you’ve fallen so far? How do you find the light when you’re swallowed by dark? How can you look up with the weight of the world on your back? How do you restart once you’ve fallen off track? You look up, to the One past the stars. You look up to see that though you’re fallen far You’re never out of the reach of grace You can always get back up and regain pace You look up, and see who you were made to be By the One who loves you more than you can ever dream When we return to our Father Waiting in heaven We’ll meet the Lamb Whose death Was our life redemption Though you feel you can’t hear Him And you believe He is far If you look up and breathe in You can hear His voice above the stars In a world of buzzing computers, His voice cuts through Calling for me, calling for you: “Lift your head, O My child, there’s nothing you could ever do To make me stop loving, stop caring for you.”
